Mt. Nebiso Jan.12

I will change the blog name to "mtb Shambhala" today.
We ride on a mountain bike to explore Shambhala (Shangri-La) every weekend...
The name of Shambhala is derived from a book "Kuhaku no 5 mairu" which means blank 5 miles and the challenge to the the world largest canyon 'Tsuampo' in Tibet.

Anyway, it is sunny and -3℃, of course we are going to Nebiso trails today.

At the point of 12km from the start, we took a rest.
My friend's Orange Five
The peak of Mt. Nebiso was crowded with hikers. They were making coffee or noodles. We envy them...

As soon as we started,  the Shimano XTR 10 speed rear mech of my friends was broken. He removed the chains and the rear mech and went down without pedalling.

Shimano 10 speed rear mech has a stabilizer to prevent chain troubles. But we assume that the stabilizer interrupt the rear swing arm to move actively. So we use in 'off' position although there is a 'on/off' position on the mech.

I think that some of the suspension system using kick back such as Yeti SB 66 or Intense Tracer 2 etc. need some extent of the chain loose. In the 'off' position, I feel the bike sticks to the ground more than ever and result in going fast.
